Neoprene Sponge

Neoprene is Polychloroprene, a closed-cell foamed synthetic rubber.

Category:

The technical name of Neoprene is Polychloroprene, which is a closed-cell foamed synthetic rubber. After Polychloroprene chips are melted and mixed with various carbon pigments and foaming agents, the compound is put in an “oven” and “baked”. As a result of expansion, the neoprene foam is formed, from which the neoprene sheets are sliced up in the desired thickness.

Does neoprene mean CR or SCR or SBR?

Literally, Neoprene just refers to “CR”, Chloroprene rubber, but when we talk about Neoprene fabric in this industry, it means the general name of three levels of qualities, including CR, SCR (Chloroprene rubber&Styrene Butadiene Rubber), and SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber). The characteristics of each type are as following:

Neoprene Type Feature Applications  Color Size
SBR Synthetic closed-cell rubber sponge (Styrene Butadiene Rubber). Good insulation performance with competitive price, but low compress resistance. Electronic device sleeve, tank jacket, fashion bags, lunch bags, school bags, cooler, game mat and more  Black, cream, aqua 51″x130″

30% SCR  A mixture of 30% CR and 70% SBR. Good insulation performance, medium ozone and compress resistance. Orthopedic support, sport support, diving shoes, surfing suit, horse protective gear and more  Black, cream 51″x130″
